I was born in Michigan and have spent most of my life here, except for four years in the US Air Force and a year in Europe afterward. Additionally, I've enjoyed a lot of time in Canada, which is just 'next door' to Michigan. I hold an associate’s degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, a BS in ED from Central Michigan University, and a MA in Art, also from Central Michigan University. My artwork features handmade, high fired porcelain and stoneware sculptures, many of which are wheel thrown and truly one of a kind.

A majority of my work consists of wheel thrown porcelain and stoneware sculpture, inspired by the organic patterns of both microscopic and macroscopic organisms. Some handmade pieces draw inspiration from seedpods, teeth, pollen, sea animals, squash, and even watermelon. As development proceeds, these high fired creations merge and evolve into new forms of possible and imaginary organisms. Each piece is one of a kind, often produced in a series that may share similarities, but no two are ever exactly alike. All of my ceramic sculptures are meticulously crafted to ensure durability and a unique finish.

For most of my life, I have been both attracted to and very allergic to large numbers of trees, grasses, and bushes. I have refused to stay trapped indoors because of these allergies. As I began to develop unique handmade sculptural forms, I explored both macroscopic and microscopic elements of nature. By studying the form and structure of seeds and other natural objects, I discovered great beauty in these simple forms, which inspired me to create one of a kind porcelain and stoneware sculptures. These simple organic designs are based on slightly abstract versions of these natural world objects, many of which are wheel thrown and high fired to enhance their beauty.
